Upgrade of Donkin Reserve
Donkin Reserve is being upgraded at the cost of millions of rands, and every penny spent is worth it. The project is being overseen by the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) on behalf of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM). The project is managed by a consortium of professionals in the field of urban development. It consists of Workplace Development Architects who manages the project upgrade. Nelson Mandela Bay’s Donkin Reserve is important because it is where the metropolitan area had its beginnings on the coast. It renders it important for urban conservation and for tourism. The environmental upgrading of the Donkin Reserve is about creating an activity space that means something to all residents of the city. Apart from being a space to use for activities, it is also designed as a central hub of art works to link Strand Street via the proposed Route 67 Art Journey.
