Start of the Urban Race

Start of the Urban Race

The start of the annual Urban Run at Donkin Reserve could not have been blessed with better weather. Runners arriving early were treated to picture perfect conditions and not a breeze present and capable of rustling a dry leaf.

Runners were released in phases starting the more serious runners first and the fun runners last. But if all is measured the Urban Run is not all about winning. It is about championing a cause. And that alone makes this race one of the more important events on the Port Elizabeth calendar.

Every year Donkin Reserve hosts the Urban Run, an initiative to support local charities.

Cleft Friends

Closing the gap for cleft parents

In the fiĀrst days after giving birth to a child with a cleft palate or lip is usually a roller-coaster of emotions and worry. Cleft Friends helps parents and children affected by cleft lips and palates by providing support as soon as possible after birth through a parent support group network of moms and dads of cleft children who have the necessary training and hands-on experience. The good news is that cleft lips and palates are usually fully treatable over time.
